Article 1 school
Freinetschool Pyramid in Heerlen in January 2008 was the first to be called 'a'.
This school excels in promoting mutual understanding between students, teachers and parents and pays great attention to global citizenship. Some examples of activities:
- Students philosophize together about self issues raised, such as "What is deeper than the sea?"
- In drama classes children explore their own and each other's identity. They do so on the basis of the Rose of Leary (communication model), which is translated to the animals from Winnie the Pooh.
- Children working with an artist's imagination of the rights of the child. The artwork comes to stand in the schoolyard.
- Each year the school celebrates the JABBA dabba-party. The party has always been an intercultural theme. Each group works an aspect of the theme. Parents and children take food with you from all directions.
- During the reading breakfast reading for parents and grandparents in their native language.
- Children like a regular class meeting. The students are also responsible for the atmosphere in the classroom and for the organization of activities.
